In Alexandria, two thousand years ago, a Roman general and an Egyptian queen named Mark Antony and Cleopatra founded a society with a Greek name: the Amimetobioi, โthose of the inimitable lifeโ. They met every night and competed for the most memorable excess. This club brings together a small group of readers who receive, for free, my first book The Crusade of Peter the Hermit, and the chapters of my new books as they are being written: chapter by chapter, fresh from the desk, with the right to comment, correct and argue before anything is finally settled. You are not test readers: you are accomplices.
